2. Enhanced Police Information Check

A standard Criminal Record Check (CRC) is not sufficient. RCASLPNB requires an Enhanced Police Information Check, which includes both a criminal record search and additional local police information. 

Requirements 

Issued Within the Last 60 Days 

The Enhanced Police Information Check must be issued no more than 60 days before the date your application is submitted. 

Original Paper Document 

Original paper copies issued by a police service or authorized provider must be mailed to:

• RCASLPNB can provide a letter for presentation to the police service upon request. 

• Original documents may be returned upon request. 

Digital Record 

Electronically issued police information checks that can be independently verified online are also accepted. 

Scanned copies of paper documents will not be accepted.

 

3. Verification of Registration in Good Standing

Provide verification of registration in good standing from all Canadian regulatory bodies with which you are currently registered. 

Important:
Verification must be sent directly from the regulatory body to RCASLPNB at info@rcaslpnb.ca. 

 

4. Evidence of Clinical Practice or Relevant Work Experience

Provide evidence of clinical practice or relevant employment in your current jurisdiction. 

Acceptable Documentation 

Letters from current and previous employers must: 

• Confirm your job title; 

• Include your dates of employment; and 

• Verify clinical practice or relevant professional work completed during the three years immediately preceding the application. 

Important:
Letters must be sent directly from the employer to RCASLPNB. 

 

5. Proof of Identity

Provide a copy of one of the following: 

• A valid passport; or 

• Another government-issued photo identification showing your current legal name. 

 

6. Personal Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) 

Provide proof of current personal Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) with a minimum coverage amount of $2,000,000. 

Insurance Requirements 

The certificate of insurance must include: 

• The applicant's name; 

• Profession; 

• Coverage dates; and 

• Confirmation that coverage is valid in New Brunswick for in-person and/or virtual services where required. 

In addition: 

• All policies must include an extended discovery and reporting period of at least two years. 

• Please refer to the PLI Requirements document for additional information.

Application Processing Fee 

The application processing fee is non-refundable and applies regardless of whether the application is approved, denied, withdrawn, or remains incomplete.

Additional Requirements for Certain New Graduates

Applicants who are new graduates and have not practised their profession in a regulated jurisdiction for a minimum of one (1) year are required to meet the Canadian Entry-to-Practice examination requirement and complete the Mentorship Program as conditions of registration.

 

What Happens Next? 

Once your application is complete, RCASLPNB will review your application and issue a written decision, including reasons, within 2 weeks.  

If additional information or documentation is required during the review process, RCASLPNB will contact you directly. 

Applicants will be notified once a decision has been made regarding their application.

Do I have to wait until I have all my documents before starting an application?

No. You can start your application at any time. Before submitting your application, please ensure that you have uploaded all documents that are your responsibility to provide. Documents submitted directly by third parties, such as transcripts, reference letters, or verification forms, will be uploaded to your application by RCASLPNB when they are received. You can log in to the Alinity portal at any time to check the status of your application and see which documents are still outstanding.

I am already registered in another Canadian province or territory but have never taken the Canadian Entry-to-Practice Exam. Will I be required to take the exam as part of my application for registration with RCASLPNB?

It depends on your practice experience. If you are applying under labour mobility provisions and have been practising for one year or more in the jurisdiction where you are currently registered and employed, you will generally not be required to take the Canadian Entry-to-Practice (CETP) Exam. If you have been practising for less than one year and are applying from a jurisdiction where an entry-to-practice examination was not required for registration, you will be required to complete the RCASLPNB Mentorship Program and successfully pass the CETP Exam. This requirement helps ensure that all registrants entering practice in New Brunswick have demonstrated entry-to-practice competence through either professional experience or successful completion of the national examination. Important: If you are granted registration and required to write the exam, you must do so at the first available sitting and will have 3 consecutive attempts to obtain a passing grade to maintain your registration. Failure to pass the exam within three consecutive attempts will result in the revocation of your registration.
