Council Leadership Appointments and Upcoming Opportunities to Serve

To all RCASLPNB registrants,

I am pleased to share several important updates regarding the 2026 leadership and composition of the Council.

The Council has appointed, by acclamation from among its members, Holly Grasse (Speech-Language Pathologist) as Chairperson and Laura Garland (Speech-Language Pathologist) as Vice‑Chairperson. We extend our sincere appreciation to both Holly and Laura for their willingness to serve in these key Council roles. They will hold these offices until the conclusion of their initial three‑year terms.

We also wish to acknowledge the completion of Miguel LeBlanc’s term as Public Representative. We are grateful for Miguel’s dedicated service during his two‑year tenure in this role. At this time, we are awaiting the Minister of Health’s appointment of a new Public Representative to fill the vacancy. We will notify all registrants once an appointment by the Minister has been made for the Public Representative position on Council.

Looking ahead, we will be issuing a Call for Expressions of Interest for Council service in September 2026. We will be recruiting two (2) new Council members to fill positions that will become vacant at the end of the 2026 fiscal year. We encourage all Practising Registrants interested in contributing to the governance and strategic direction of the organization to consider applying when the call is released. Your application will be reviewed by the Nominations Committee, and a recommendation will be provided to the Council for consideration. Serving on the Council is a wonderful opportunity to foster the development and growth of many transferable skills, participate in the regulatory landscape, and contribute to public protection.

Council service typically involves four (4) to five (5) meetings annually, each approximately two  (2) hours in duration, along with preparation time to review agendas and supporting materials. Council members also participate in an annual full‑day governance training session which includes a team building activity. Meetings are typically held after standard work hours with full-day governance training being held on a weekend. Council service includes an annual honorarium equivalent to the Practising registration fee as well as Continuing Education Equivalents (CEEs). Additional information regarding Council positions will be shared in early September when the call for applications is issued.

Thank you for your continued engagement and commitment to the profession. We look forward to sharing further updates as they become available.

Please do not hesitate to contact the office at info@rcaslpnb.ca if you have any questions concerning the Council composition or serving as a Council member.

Regards,

Nicole Fowler
